Job Summary The Human Resource Generalist must know, practice, and implement Company policies and procedures as well as applicable local, state, federal and employment laws. This position is considered a vital link between management and the employees and must foster a positive, healthy, and enthusiastic work environment free of inappropriate behavior.
Responsibilities
- Maintain workplace safety conditions. Monitor the investigation of serious workplace accidents and injuries and work with worker's compensation carrier to administer appropriate benefits to injured employees.
- Assist in safety awareness education
- Develop training programs and train in sexual harassment, ergonomics, diversity, motivation, team work, problem solving, leadership, communication, etc..
- Handles hiring & provides new employee orientation and training of employees on Company policies and procedures
- Assist management in planning and implementing staffing and scheduling, and monitoring overall changes in headcount.
- Administer payroll, vacation, attendance, compensation and benefits
- Implement and monitor the performance appraisal program.
- Administer the Company's Standards of Conduct & Corrective Action Policy to ensure that it is being executed in a fair and equitable manner.
- Develop sources of readily available qualified candidates for permanent and temporary positions.
- Maintain employee personnel files.
- Prepares reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
- Oversee and conduct internal investigations of allegations of employee misconduct.
- Handle employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviews.
- Directs preparation of accounting records including budget of human resources operations. Recommends budgets to management.
- Promote local employee community involvement, newsletters, and company/employee outings and social activities.
- Seek and secure state and federal grants for training programs.
- Conducts wage survey within labor market to determine competitive wage rate.
- Strengthen internal communications with and between employees and management through meetings, written communications, and activities, etc. to ensure superior knowledge and understanding of company objectives, plans, and results.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with at least 2 years of HR experience, preferably in a multi-site and/or multi-state organization. Must have knowledge of principles and practices of HR administration, policies and procedures, and employment law. Experience with MS Office, payroll and timekeeping systems is also required.
