Lorenzo International Inc. acquires Falconer-based trucking company
DUNKIRK - Lorenzo International Inc., a Dunkirk-based transportation, warehousing and distribution firm, has announced the acquisition of Rocket Express Delivery Inc. of Falconer, an asset-based expedited trucking service provider.
"Rocket Express´s expertise in providing its customers with dependable, expedited delivery service fits perfectly with Lorenzo International´s mission of providing top-quality transportation, warehousing and distribution services," said Gregory Lorenzo of Lorenzo International Inc. "We´re excited about adding the ´just-in-time´ delivery service option for our customers as we continue to maintain the high-level of service Rocket Express customers have come to rely on."
As the transportation provider for many area shippers, Lorenzo International frequently gets calls from customers who need their product transported immediately.
"It´s common for shippers to call us with an emergency pick-up request. They can´t wait a day or two. They literally need to see a truck backed into their facility in 20 or 30 minutes. Most trucking companies can´t operate under those conditions," said Lorenzo International Inc. Sales Manager Jim Starck. "With the addition of Rocket Express, which is solely dedicated to those emergency shipments, we can provide that much-needed service to our customers while making it more cost-effective."
Rocket Express Delivery Inc, established in 1999, currently services a number of customers in the western New York and northern Pennsylvania area with approximately 30 employees. Lorenzo International Inc. will expand Rocket Express´s service area to include customers across the United States and Canada. The expedited service provided by Rocket Express ranges from small packages to full 53-foot truckloads and covers all points from western New York to the west coast. This acquisition is expected to increase Lorenzo International Inc. projected revenues to more than $15 million for 2006.
Lorenzo International Inc. provides supply chain management solutions to more than 150 manufacturers and distributors across the United States, Canada and Mexico. With its main office currently located at 314 Central Ave. in Dunkirk, the company also has warehousing facilities on Bennett Road in the Town of Dunkirk and the Chadwick Bay Industrial Park in the Town of Sheridan which will soon serve as the company´s administrative offices as well.
"We see Chautauqua County and the surrounding region as a very strategic area for providing supply-chain solutions to businesses across the United States and Canada as well as in our own back yard," said Lorenzo. "We´re fortunate to have teamed up with many local manufacturers to assist in getting their product out their door and on the store shelves. The additional expedited services we can now provide through Rocket Express will assist our local manufacturers in remaining competitive in the national market place."
Lorenzo International Inc. has been providing transportation services from its Dunkirk location since 1996. In January of this year, the company changed its name to Lorenzo International Inc. as part of its plan to market its expanded services. With approximately 50 employees in Chautauqua County, the firm has partnered with a number of companies locally to provide supply-chain management assistance. In addition to increasing sales and staff, Lorenzo International Inc. also contributed more than $40,000 to various not-for-profit and youth organizations in 2004 and 2005 including the American Cancer Society Dunkirk/Fredonia Relay for Life, Hospice of Chautauqua County, United Way of Northern Chautauqua County, Buffalo Hearing and Speech, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Gus Macker Basketball Tournament, Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Brooks Memorial Hospital, just to name a few.
"We´re fortunate to be able to continue to grow and expand professionally while contributing to the local economy in a variety of ways," said Lorenzo. "From small donations for kids´ sports programs to larger corporate event sponsorships, I´m glad we´re in a position to be able to provide that kind of support to the community."
